The canteen in DTU Science Park

Measurements were performed in the canteen at the Technical University of Denmark’s Science Park, where ODEON’s offices are located. In the comparison of simulations vs. measurements, some discrepancy is found at low frequencies, which is likely caused by background noise when performing the measurements

Below are a couple of auralizations produced in the canteen model, using only a few speech audio files. The background noise is produced by running just some of the audio files through ODEON’s Audio FX tool, which produces many slightly different audio files from each single one.

You can find a more in-depth crowd auralization scenario of this model here.

Below you may download an ODEON Zip Archive of this example, which is a packaged ODEON model (for ODEON Auditorium or Combined, 15.15 or newer) containing all the necessary files to run it: room geometry, assigned materials, source and receiver placements, anechoic recordings, etc. The extracted anechoic recordings can then be used for auralizations on any other room model.

To unzip an ODEON Zip Archive:

  1. Launch ODEON
  2. Go to File > Zip > Unzip archive
  3. Select your downloaded ODEON Zip Archive
  4. Select a folder to extract the files

ODEON will then automatically load the room.

This Zip Archive also contains an AudioFX batch file (.afx) to generate extra audio files from the downloaded ones. If using ODEON 16.08 or newer, this batch file will be run automatically. Otherwise, it must be run manually by going to the Tools menu > Audio FX > Open batch file.

We have more ODEON Zip Archives available for download, which include different room models and anechoic recordings.
