The reflectogram is based only on early reflections, while the BRIR (Binaural Room Impulse Response) corresponds to a full response. The reflectogram and the decay curve are shown in a dB scale, whereas the BRIR is displayed in a linear scale. In addition, the BRIR includes all frequencies. The low frequency contributions, that are almost inaudible, can have a strong visual influence on the BRIR.
In addition, since the HRTF represents a real human head rather than a point receiver (as in the reflectogram), the head’s masking effect on the ears can introduce noticeable level differences between them.
