Extra lines are displayed in my model when I import a room in ODEON. Where do these lines come from?
In ODEON any surface is represented by a closed loop of consecutive points. Subsequently, each point is defined by the 3D coordinates: x, y, z, as you can see in any room par file opened in the ODEON editor. When a window is placed in the middle of a wall or when there is a […]
Can I add a surface directly in ODEON?
You can add a surface in ODEON using vertices from existing surfaces. To do so enter the modelling options in the 3D view (M shortcut). Press F1 to obtain the ODEON help. Follow the instructions under the heading “Defining a surface from existing points using the 3D View, the Windows Clipboard and the OdeonEdit”. You […]
ODEON crashes when I import a model generated with the SU2Odeon plugin
There may be compatibility issues between ODEON and the SketchUp plugin. With ODEON 19 (or later), you should use SU2Odeon 4.xx, which you can find in the SketchUp Warehouse or on our website. With ODEON 15-18, use SU2Odeon 3.03, available on our website. With ODEON 10-14, use SU2Odeon 1.09, available on our website.
SketchUp stops working when exporting a large model with SU2Odeon.
In the case of very large models, it can take even up to an hour for the SU2Odeon plugin to convert the SketchUp model to ODEON. Even if the SketchUp interface shows a “Not responding” message, it is very likely that the conversion is still ongoing, so please be patient, and wait until the conversion […]
How does ODEON prepare the imported CAD file?
ODEON corrects for errors which may reside in a CAD model, such as warped or repeated surfaces, and surfaces with no area. In addition, surfaces that are co-planar or almost co-planar are stitched together to form larger polygons. This results in models that are easier to handle, look cleaner, and are better compatible with the […]
Which geometry formats can be imported in ODEON?
Here is a list of possible formats and type of files supported by ODEON: Sketchup: we have created a plug-in called “SU2Odeon” for Trimble Sketchup which converts and saves the geometry directly in Odeon’s native .par format. The plug-in is available at no additional charge here. Multiple CAD formats can be directly imported in ODEON: DXF, […]
How do I create a room model in ODEON?
ODEON is primarily a simulation tool. Models are created in third-party applications and imported into ODEON afterwards. The most common ways to import room models are as CAD files (in various extensions) or directly from SketchUp, using the free SU2Odeon plugin. Although not recommended nowadays, it is also possible to create models in the legacy […]
