The ODEON measuring system is very flexible. Only elementary equipment is needed for an initial measurement: a microphone and a loudspeaker, connected to the built-in sound card of a portable PC. But of course, better quality of the measuring equipment yields more accurate results.
External sound cards/audio interfaces can always be used in connection to the output/input devices, however modern built-in sound cards of a portable PCs (laptops) are of sufficient quality for room acoustic measurements with ODEON. This makes the overall equipment simpler and lighter. Read more about the equipment and setup in Chapter 12 the ODEON manual.
You can also import impulse responses recorded with other methods, outside of ODEON, as long as you have the response saved as a.wav file. See for example in application note Measurements with a smart phone.
