How can I make calibrated measurements with Odeon Omni?
Calibratibrated measurements are needed only for deriving Sound Strength (G) and Speech Transmission Index (STI) parameters. We have greatly simplied the process of calibrating the measuring system, by introducing a Pre-calibration file to be applied directly with any Odeon Omni. See on Omni’s downloads page for insructions on how to download and apply the Pre-calibration […]
Is the mini-jack cable connection suitable for long distances? Is it balanced?
The mini-jack connection used by Odeon Omni is unbalanced. However, in practice this does not compromise measurement quality. When using sweep signals, noise and distortion components are effectively rejected during post-processing. The results should not deteriorate with cable length, even when using an unbalanced connection.
Is it safe to use Bluetooth connection for all types of measurements.
A Bluetooth connection is recommended instead of a cable for most of the measurements, because it makes the process faster and easier, taking advantage of the portability of the device. Through our own experience with measurements, we have observed that level fluctuations are slightly higher when using a Bluetooth connection compared to a cabled connection, […]
I hear a rattling noise while a sweep is playing on Odeon Omni.
Make sure that you use the rubber rings between the source and the tripod, this will help reducing vibrations. Due to its light weight, a certain level of vibration is expected at some frequencies and high levels caused by mechanical resonance of the device. This cannot be eliminated entirely, but if you use sweeps to […]
Which room size can be measured with Odeon Omni?
Odeon Omni should perform well in medium-sized venues, such as auditoria, small concert halls, classrooms, offices, restaurants, etc. The Bluetooth connection works well up to 30 m distance (provided there are not too many obstacles between the PC and the source). Due to its compact size, the device’s sound power output is somewhat limited compared […]
Can Odeon Omni be used without the ODEON software?
Yes, it behaves like a standalone audio device, to which you can either connect via mini Jack cable or Bluetooth. We recommend using sine sweeps to measure impulse responses. Even though the measurement facility in ODEON makes it very easy to set up sweeps and obtain impulse responses, you can alternatively find a collection of […]
What is the advantage of using Odeon Omni for room acoustic measurements?
Odeon Omni can help you simplify your measurement setup: it is extremely lightweight (1.5 kg), and its internal battery and Bluetooth connection can reduce the number of cables required in your setup. Moreover, Odeon Omni does not require an external amplifier. Its relatively flat frequency response should allow you to cover all octave bands of […]
